I ask this question to many of our new patients. I want to know how long they’ve been working towards getting better. We treat a variety of disc conditions including herniated disc, ruptured disc, bulging disc, sciatica and stenosis. These conditions can be quite serious and impact a patients quality of life in the long term. Many patients tell me that it threatens their ability to work and sleep. It interferes with their relationships and hobbies and can make simple movements quite painful.
About 80% of the time, patients relate virtually the same story. They started to feel pain in their neck or back but didn’t think much of it. Their pain worsened and they took some over-the-counter medication. Then they began to get leg or arm pain, tingling or numbness. Some noticed that they felt weak in the affected extremity. They went to their doctor who prescribed an anti-inflammatory like Celebrex or a muscle relaxant like Flexoril. The pain didn’t go away or got worse and they went through a course of physical therapy. Many had epidural injections in their spine. Others tried chiropractic and acupuncture.
I mention this because if you have pain from a disc related condition you probably have gone through at least part of what is described here. Sometimes it’s comforting to know that you’re not alone.
At Better Body Solutions we take the time to get to know our patients. We want to understand how their health problem is impacting their life. We always look to not only diagnose the source of pain, but seek to determine why it happened in the first place. We specialize in disc conditions and use modern methods and technologies different from those our patients have experienced before.
